What are the particular strengths of the Danish city of Aarhus, and how can they be put to best possible use to ensure future well-being? This will be the focal point when the Small Great Nation cooperation holds a conference on 22 October, hosted by IT company Systematic.
Small Great Nation is a Danish collaborative venture between the Deloitte audit and consultancy company and the Kraka think tank, aimed at providing a sharper focus on what Denmark will live on in the future. And on 22 October, this focus will be directed towards the Danish city of Aarhus, in particular, when Small Great Nation visits the Systematic headquarters in Aarhus.
“Aarhus is a city with lots of potential seen in the light of digitisation as well as globalisation. That’s why we are very much looking forward to hosting a conference that focuses on how we can best utilise the many strengths of Aarhus, in order to ensure growth as well as well-being in the future,” says Michael Holm, CEO of Systematic.
Input from local stakeholders wanted
The themes for the day include how the potential available in the local area can be brought to fruition, and how this strategy can best be supported by local politicians as well as educational institutions and the business community.
To find the most qualified ideas about how to do this, key people from the fields of business, education and innovation, industrial organisations, politicians and other interested parties from the local area are encouraged to attend the conference and provide their inputs.
“There is a need for innovative thinking and new ways to work together if we are to find the solutions that will ensure Denmark’s future prosperity. We Danes have all the prerequisites for being at the forefront. Our society combines agility and modest size with a knowhow-intensive and innovation-driven approach, and this gives us good opportunities. Deloitte and Kraka do not have the answers but we believe that – working with others – we can create perspectives and tools that can promote new solutions for Denmark in a changeable, global world,” said Anders Dons, Nordic CEO in Deloitte.

Recommendations for Denmark’s future
The conference at Systematic is part of the so-called Small Great Nation Roadshow, where this collaborative venture visits different cities throughout Denmark, with the aim of focusing awareness on local strengths.
The purpose is to establish an overall picture of Denmark’s strengths and weaknesses, and to use these as the basis for a series of recommendations for how unique Danish skills and strengths can be put to best possible use in a manner that ensures welfare and cohesion in the future.
“The cooperation between Kraka and Deloitte is a unique opportunity for research to clarify Denmark’s real skills and thus provide the basis for being able to come up with specific solutions for how we as a society should best act in the coming decades. While Kraka has the analytical tools, Deloitte is a global business operation based on knowledge and networking – a linkage that will provide us with a strong starting point for dialogue and engagement right across Denmark,” explains Peter Mogensen, director of Kraka.
The Small Great Nation conference in Aarhus will take place on 22 October from 15:00 to 17:00 at Systematic on Søren Frichs Vej 39, Aarhus. Participation is free, but requires registration via the form (in Danish only) here.
