Systematic launches new version of SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge

The new 3.2 release includes a HF Communication Add-On Module, Map Maker function and more, with particular advances for SitaWare Edge.

Systematic has released version 3.2 of its SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge software, further enhancing the mobile battle management software for mounted and dismounted commanders.

The C2 solutions offer comprehensive situational awareness and tactical communications capabilities, with SitaWare Frontline designed for mounted commanders and SitaWare Edge offering a dismounted battle management system. The 3.2 version boosts user capabilities across both products, speeding the OODA loop even further.

All the advantages of SitaWare

The upgrade provides commanders with all the advantages of SitaWare, including comprehensive situational awareness and mission management, robust communications in the most challenging conditions, and a fully integrated software suite. However, it includes a range of improvements, furthering the commander’s ability to dominate the battlefield.

The new version takes both battle management tools to the next level, says Jesper Annexgaard, Systematic’s product manager for both mobile software solutions. However, SitaWare Edge has received a significant upgrade, now offering almost the same functionality as SitaWare Frontline. SitaWare Edge now “provides the dismounted commander with almost the same capabilities as mounted commanders”, says Annexgaard.

HF Communication add-on for SitaWare Edge

Version 3.2 of SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge offers several enhancements, such as the HF Communication Add-On Module that enables users to control the data they transmit when using HF radios or SATCOM. Users can send and receive a range of mission information to and from another SitaWare Frontline or SitaWare Edge device, including their own position, chat messages with attachments, friendly force tracks, and snapshots of their situational pictures.

While a version of this capability was previously available on SitaWare Frontline, “it’s now also possible on SitaWare Edge, so the two products have been further aligned”, explains Annexgaard.

Map creating on the fly

Finally, SitaWare Frontline 3.2 provides access to the SitaWare Map Maker. Previously, maps were generated for SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge through SitaWare Headquarters, optimised for performance in advance. The Map Maker tool means maps can be created “on the fly”, Annexgaard says, enhancing the capabilities of users on the battlefield as well as administrators in headquarters.

These maps are optimised for performance and display in SitaWare Edge and SitaWare Frontline 3.2. “Units can create their own maps without needing the link back to HQ,” Annexgaard notes. “They can do it in the field without having to ask HQ to deliver a new map. It cuts that demand out of the equation.”
