New SitaWare Insight updates help speed up intelligence workflows

The latest update for Systematic’s AI-powered intelligence platform SitaWare Insight has delivered a variety of enhancements to the workflows of intelligence analysts, as well as datastream management, and deployed artificial intelligence (AI) operations.

“As modern military operations increase in pace, the ability for intelligence staff to deliver critical information to commanders quickly is more important than ever. This can come at all stages of the military operating environment – from competition, to crisis, and warfighting – and even in operations other than kinetic operations, such as humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and peacekeeping,” says Henrik Sommer, Systematic Director for Multidomain C2 and Intelligence.

“Our improvements to SitaWare Insight allow for the easier leveraging of AI and enhanced intelligence workflow management. We have also added to our data lake capabilities, enhancing its flexibility and data capabilities with an integrated equipment library. We have also worked with our users to improve the user interface and administrative support functions to enrich the user experience, which allows them to operate more effectively. Doing everything faster is essential,” Sommer added.

Video data enhancements

Using SitaWare Insight’s AI tools, large video files can now be automatically analysed and vignetted to show object of interest to users. This deployment of computer vision technology helps to deliver pertinent, actionable intelligence to users, reducing the manual processing times for analysts. When combined with georeferenced alerting, SitaWare Insight is also helping to deliver timely warnings of activity of interest to  commanders and operators.

A new shared equipment library with SitaWare Headquarters allows for a federated search of equipment and maritime vessels for SitaWare Insight users, helping to unlock a critical appreciation of opponent force sizes, capabilities, and more. Plan layers can be shared with other SitaWare Headquarters users, with symbols benefitting from embedded links to the equipment library to improve the understanding of individual threats and objects of opportunity.

Users can preview a variety of filetypes in the data lake, including Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, OpenDocument, and text files, as well as video and image files. When combined with metadata and entity extraction tools in the data lake, SitaWare Insight users are now able to find relevant documents much faster, helping to fulfil intelligence requirements with greater depth and speed.

IRM enhancements

The tools for the NATO standard of Intelligence requirement management (IRM)  have also received a boost. Users can undertake searches based on geographical areas of interest (GAOI), integrating them into the intelligence collection plans (ICPs) to help support the linking of intelligence artefacts in the data lake to (ICPs). IRM work folder tools have also been enhanced, with all searchable entities – ranging from event reports, Coalition Shared Database files, equipment libraries, and more – accessible from a single workbench to enhance access and searchability.

Commanders can also monitor and track intelligence requests and processes through dashboards to help appreciate analysts’ workloads, as well as prioritisation. Using dashboards allows for deep dives to be undertaken on data, helping to support workflow optimisation and balancing.

Further development of bulk export tools from SitaWare Headquarters into SitaWare Insight also helps with the evaluation of operational conditions, such as unit holdings, and for post-operational analysis tasks that can include “lessons learned.”

Full situational awareness

Systematic’s SitaWare suite allows the seamless integration of a wide range of C4ISR data and intelligence to deliver a comprehensive common operational picture to battlefield commanders – from those in a headquarters or joint operations centre, to vehicle-mounted troops and units on the ground.

SitaWare Insight is a complete repository of data used to support military headquarters and intelligence units with their operations in the intelligence cycle, providing an integrated digitised solution to ensure that all the data available on the battlefield can be utilised by commanders and planners to make informed decisions. In combination with the SitaWare suite, equipment data can be easily shared across the battlefield, allowing for rapid threat analysis and assessment to be undertaken by commanders at all levels.
