The Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) procured Systematic’s COTS products as the primary software components in their fully interoperable C2 system, FINACCIS2, which is being deployed on international peace-keeping operations around the world. Systematic has had a presence in Finland since 2008 and has been supporting the FDF in the FINACCIS2 project using its C2 and interoperability software products, SitaWare and IRIS.

In 2011, the SitaWare and IRIS products successfully underwent initial laboratory tests, network communication tests and finally field trials using the envisioned deployment setup with communication equipment and vehicles in the Finnish forest. “We were very pleased with the results of the testing phase,” says Colonel Olli-Matti Salminen to G3, “We are now preparing to deploy FINACCIS2 in international operations, and sharing information with coalition partners is vital to mission success.”

Following these successful tests and trials, the Finnish Defence Forces, Materiel Command Headquarters signed an agreement in 2012 to provide maintenance to the FINACCIS2 Command and Control (C2) system. The framework agreement saw the provision of product maintenance, new licenses and specialist support work over the next 5-years. Merja Annala, President Systematic Oy Finland said to G3, “I am very pleased that this agreement will enable us to continue working closely with our Finnish customer as the FINACCIS system evolves. Our products have been specifically built on international standards for exchanging information, which gives our customers a higher level of interoperability out-of-the-box.”

The FDF began training with FINACCIS2 in 2012 and has utilized the FINACCIS2 solution several times in international tests such as Combined Endeavour and CWIX. Systematic’s interoperability specialists will be working closely with the FDF towards operational deployment in 2013.
