Situational awareness boost for UK’s Project Acheron experiment
Over the past few weeks, Systematic has been actively participating in the Ministry of Defence's (MOD) experimental exercise, Project Acheron. This project is part of the MOD's ongoing efforts to enhance Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities using the latest in sensor and communication technologies. Systematic has provided its state-of-the-art SitaWare Headquarters as the primary situational awareness tool for the exercise.
Project Acheron is a pioneering initiative aimed at integrating cutting-edge sensor and communication systems to create a comprehensive and cohesive operational picture. The project leverages various types of sensors, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs), to collect vast amounts of data from the field.
These feeds are then consolidated to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. The aim is to show how a multi-domain integrated network can be used in a real-world, conflict environment.
Systematic expertise
Adrian Harvey, Systematic’s Test Manager, has been one of several personnel assigned to the experiment over the last few weeks, overseeing the integration and use of SitaWare Headquarters into exercise and ensuring the presentation of a cohesive and comprehensive display from all sources.
He said: "It’s been a busy few weeks for the team, and we have enjoyed the opportunity to demonstrate SitaWare’s multi-domain capabilities. SitaWare Headquarters provided a vital aspect for the experiment in demonstrating the visualisation of all the different feeds from various sensors - UAVs and UGVs - and consolidating them into one layer to enable a clear picture of activity."
Future capability
SitaWare Headquarters is known for its robust capabilities in providing a unified and comprehensive operational picture. Its ability to integrate and visualise data from multiple sources in real-time has proven invaluable during the Acheron exercise. By consolidating sensor feeds into a single, coherent layer, SitaWare enhances situational awareness, enabling commanders to make informed decisions swiftly.
