SitaWare provides JCOP, innovative planning capabilities for EX JOINT QUEST

The UK Standing Joint Force HQ-led exercise examined innovative technologies in a multi-domain environment.

Systematic’s SitaWare Headquarters command-and-control (C2) software played an important role during Exercise JOINT QUEST, UK Standing Joint Force Headquarters’ (SJFHQ) latest event exploring cutting-edge technologies, with the software delivering a range of decision support and planning functions and a multi-domain Joint Common Operational Picture (JCOP).

The objectives of JOINT QUEST included understanding the role and application of a strategic-level operational headquarters in a multi-domain environment – air, land, maritime, space, cyber, and electromagnetic – and specifically how to achieve ‘information advantage’, described by SJFHQ as the ability to outmanoeuvre adversaries in the information age.

“Systematic supported SJFHQ with an innovative Joint operational planning capability,” explains Paul Fielding, Senior Manager Business Development at Systematic, “This enabled the SJFHQ planners to prepare a synchronised, multi-domain, multinational plan combining defence and partner organisations across government and with allies.”

Joint Quest was structured around NATO’s Allied Joint Doctrine for the Planning of Operations (AJP5) and the UK’s Multi-Domain Integration concept. For the exercise, SJFHQ created multiple alternative courses of action with a focus on achieving audience-centric objectives.

Military Planners from the SJFHQ exploited the Synchronisation Matrix and Operational Planning features within SitaWare Headquarters to generate alternative potential courses of action to achieving their mission objectives set against a representative complex real-world scenario.

The exercise was held at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom’s Battle Lab.

SJFHQ is a rapidly deployable component that provides operational C2 to the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) countries – Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the UK.
