Systematic supports British Army industry experiment

Systematic is joining the British Army’s Warfighting Experiment which aims to test novel defence industry capabilities against a range of future military threats.

Designated an ‘Enabler’ of AWE’s Urban Shield exercise, which is taking place at His Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth until the end of November, SitaWare Headquarters will provide the command-and-control battle management software for the entire exercise.

An advanced C4ISR system, already in service with more than 50 nations including the US Army, SitaWare Headquarters will ensure unmatched tactical communication, planning, interoperability, and situational awareness for the forces taking part.

“We are delighted by this fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the capability of SitaWare Headquarters and work with the British Army,” said James Hamilton, UK Vice President.

“Having an off-the-shelf product that can easily integrate into existing systems is a huge benefit for forces looking to quickly – and efficiently - adapt to the ever-evolving threats of modern warfare.”

Tactical edge

As part of the same exercise Systematic is also partnering with L3Harris as a participant – where capabilities are tested against other industry products.

Looking to demonstrate how force elements can respond to the presence of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) as one of the tests for industry, SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge are supporting a solution from L3Harris.

Designed for use by mounted and dismounted units, SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge operate seamlessly with SitaWare Headquarters to provide unified command-and-control across all echelons of command.

Both elements of Systematic’s involvement are being supported by a team of highly skilled software engineers who will remain in Portsmouth for the duration of the exercise.

Testing for the future

The Army Warfighting Experiment (AWE) Urban Series 2022-2024 is a British Army Capability Investigation that examines industry solutions by testing them within a threat-based tactical scenario.

It aims to accelerates Army modernisation and transformation by challenging defence industry to help them respond and adapt to future threats within an urban environment.
