Enhanced SitaWare Maritime solution provides improved situational awareness

In the maritime domain situational awareness of above water, surface and below water is vital for operational effectiveness. The latest product releases to SitaWare Maritime encompass exactly that, with major enhancements designed to provide detailed data from across the battlespace.

The 6.19 version of the world-leading C4ISR software solution from Systematic, includes new features as part of the advance WaterSpace management capability, a revamped vessel database, an improved user interface, and sophisticated tools for managing Contacts of Interest (COI).

“WaterSpace Management is a critical capability for the safe coordination of the movements of submarine and underwater vessels,” said Stig Meyer, Product Manager for SitaWare Maritime.

“That’s why we have paid particular attention to this aspect. Now operators can create a moving haven for the area in which a submarine will operate, and pin that to a pre-planned route. This will automatically calculate the position of the submarine as it travels by calculating the distance and speed.

“This then becomes visible for all users of SitaWare, informing their situational awareness and allowing them to plan their own movements safely and effectively. It’s an important feature in the software and one that we think our customers will greatly benefit from as a result.”

This functionality means that operators can now import APP-11 subnotes, allowing them to visualise planned submarine movements directly on the map. This enhances operational planning by providing a clear, real-time view of submarine operations alongside other maritime assets.

Improved Equipment Library

In addition to the WaterSpace management upgrades, the vessel database — now called the Equipment Library — has been overhauled to provide more detailed and user-friendly access to information on maritime assets. This helps to simplify data management, enabling faster decision-making and more efficient operations.

The main changes are:

• Improved UI Design: The platform’s user interface has been redesigned to offer a more intuitive experience, making it easier for operators to navigate through vessel data and access critical information quickly.

• View Images in Full Screen: The update also includes the ability to view vessel images in full screen, allowing for a more detailed examination of visual data.

• Export Vessels to a File: The export function enables users to easily share vessel data across systems and with other team members, ensuring that everyone involved in the operation has access to the same information.

Contact of Interest (COI) Detection and Management

The latest release also introduces comprehensive tools for managing Contacts of Interest (COI), a vital capability for identifying and responding to potential threats. The enhanced capabilities include:

• Operators can now create and maintain lists of Contacts of Interest, ensuring that critical vessels and areas are continuously monitored.

• Specific vessels can be added to COI lists, enhancing the ability to track and monitor them during operations.

• Automatic Correlation and Marking: The system now automatically marks tracks that appear on a COI list, integrating this information into the operational display.

• SmartLayer Filtering: A new smartlayer filter allows operators to quickly identify if a track is on a COI list.

• Export and Import COI Lists: COI lists can be exported and imported between different headquarters installations, facilitating coordinated operations across multiple locations.
