From data to decision: what's new in SitaWare Insight 1.9
The latest update to SitaWare Insight, the SitaWare suite's intelligence management and decision support tool, introduces three new AI-powered capabilities alongside improvements to interoperability, data integration, and platform infrastructure. Version 1.9 strengthens the ability of commanders and intelligence staff to extract operationally relevant intelligence from growing volumes of data - whether deployed in national data centres, headquarters environments, or forward locations with limited connectivity.
AI terrain analysis from satellite imagery
SitaWare Insight 1.9 introduces AI-powered terrain analysis, enabling users to generate land cover overlays directly from satellite images. The model classifies surface types - including water, built-up areas, vegetation, rangeland, and snow or ice - and produces overlays that can be applied to the operational map picture. Trained to support a broad distribution of surface conditions across Europe, the capability provides intelligence and planning staff with machine-generated land cover classifications that support terrain analysis - reducing what would otherwise require significant manual effort.
AI track prediction with custom models
A new AI track prediction capability allows users to select a tracked symbol and generate predicted future routes based on historical movement patterns in given area. Multiple possible routes can be predicted for each track, with its own probability score, supporting anticipatory planning and movement analysis. Users can further tailor this capability to their specific operational environment by training custom models through the AI Platform add-on, using their own data and area of operations.

Enhanced Wingman in Federated Search
The Wingman AI assistant , introduced in previous updates as an integrated LLM-based support tool, has been further improved. Files containing text - such as PDF or TXT documents - now have their content indexed automatically upon upload to the Data Lake. This allows the Wingman in Federated Search to draw on the indexed content of uploaded files when responding to user queries, delivering more detailed and contextually relevant answers grounded in the user's own mission data.
Interoperability and data integration
SitaWare Insight's data lake now processes imagery in the NATO Secondary Imagery Format (NSIF) in accordance with STANAG 4545 - extending native support to a widely used NATO imagery standard. Extracted metadata is displayed and fully searchable in Federated Search by text, time, and location. Supported file types include nsif, nsf, nitf, and ntf.
A preview of the new Custom Data framework introduces user-defined structured data modelling, allowing operators to define their own tabular data formats and make them searchable in Federated Search without requiring vendor configuration. The Robot can ingest custom data through a dedicated processor, laying the groundwork for more flexible intelligence data management within the platform.
Further updates in SitaWare Insight 1.9 include improvements to platform performance, infrastructure security, and administrative tooling, continuing Systematic's approach of regularly enhancing the underlying platform alongside new operational capabilities.
