Systematic partners with Space42, Comtech for friendly-force tracking solution

Location-tracking system to leverage SitaWare technology to deliver friendly-force position tracking

Systematic is pleased to announce its partnership with Space42, the UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company with global reach, and US firm Comtech for the development and delivery of a satellite-based communication and tracking system.

The location tracking system (LTS) will leverage Systematic’s SitaWare Frontline to send and receive location information and messages via Systematic’s communications backbone, SitaWare Tactical Communication. This data will then be transferred to operations centres using SitaWare Headquarters via Space42’s constellation of satellites utilising Comtech’s communications hardware. This new capability will give commanders an exceptional overview of the disposition of friendly forces.

The LTS will equip mounted and dismounted troops as well as a variety of vehicles – including naval and airborne assets. This will give force commanders a reliable picture of the location of their forces, as well as providing an additional tracking system as part of a PACE (primary, alternate, contingency, emergency) communications plan.

Combining technology to provide superior situational awareness

“The joining of Space42’s strength in space-based communications technologies, paired with Systematic’s operationally proven SitaWare suite will be a significant force-enabler for any military. As the need for reliable friendly-force tracking is increasingly important in complex battlefield environments, traditional methods of communication need to be supplemented at all levels. Designing-in space-based communication systems into a digitalised battlespace plan gives greater resilience, reliance, and transparency,” says Systematic’s Vice President for Middle East Business Development Andrew Atkinson.

“Rooted in our strategy to become a trusted leader in secure connectivity, we are committed to strengthening national security and modern governance capabilities by addressing real operational needs. Our partnership with Systematic and Comtech delivers an unmatched Location Tracking Services solution setting a new benchmark in the market. With integrated Push-to-Talk (PTT) and SOS capabilities, this solution significantly enhances Combat Search and Rescue operations, enabling rapid response and improved mission safety. By combining Space42’s advanced satellite communications technology with Systematic’s cutting-edge location and tracking solutions, we are shaping faster decision-making, stronger institutional resilience, and superior situational awareness. We look forward to unlocking the full potential of this collaboration”, said Ahmed Almehrzi, Senior Vice President Government Solutions at Space42.

Delivering a mobile solution

SitaWare Frontline is a vehicle-mounted battle management system that can be installed in ships, vehicles, or aircraft of all sizes. Mounted commanders using SitaWare Frontline can send and receive a wide variety of data and information, as well as perform a range of map-based planning and intelligence tasks that can be supported using 3D visuals. SitaWare Edge is a mobile solution for dismounted commanders to gain improved situational awareness through the tracking and monitoring of friendly and non-friendly forces on the battlefield. Both SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge allow users to view feeds from unmanned systems, as well as the delivery of other intelligence information to help inform decision-making.

The most recent updates to SitaWare Frontline and SitaWare Edge give greater battlefield management capabilities in giving commanders the ability to create and delegate tasks to subordinate units. This new functionality helps with the delivery of a missions to support a commander’s intent, and overall strategic direction.
