Systematic grants employees paid leave for volunteer service
Five days of paid leave a year will make it easier for Systematic's staff to combine their work with voluntary service in the armed forces and emergency services.
Employees who serve as reservists or volunteers in the Danish Armed Forces, the Home Guard, the Emergency Management Agency or the Coast Rescue Service are now offered five days of paid leave annually to serve in uniform.
The new policy has been introduced as a recognition of employees’ contribution to society, explains Systematic’s CEO, Nikolaj Bramsen:
“When employees spend their free time serving in the Armed Forces, the Home Guard, the Emergency Management Agency or other efforts that strengthen Denmark’s security, they deserve our support. They step up for all of us, and we back them by giving them paid time off to do so,” he says.

Several Systematic employees have a military background or serve as reservists and volunteers. According to Simon Eriksen Holmelin, Domain Advisor at Systematic and Army reservist and volunteer in the Home Guard, the new policy makes a real difference:
“In recent years I’ve spent many voluntary hours in the Home Guard and a lot of time as a reservist, and I’ll likely be spending even more time in both roles going forward. The new policy shows that Systematic values our voluntary contribution, and it gives us far better opportunities to combine service and work,” he says.
Part of InterForce
The policy has been introduced following Systematic becoming a supporting company at InterForce – an organisation under the Danish Defence, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the military and the civilian business sector. Systematic has been a member of InterForce for several years and has a tradition of flexibility towards employees engaged in voluntary service.
“We are currently experiencing strong support from Danish businesses for the Armed Forces and the emergency services, and the Home Guard is seeing a massive influx of new volunteers. With so many people ready to lend a hand, it’s important that the business community supports employees who are reservists and volunteers, so they can serve with a clear conscience without it impacting their jobs or finances. We therefore appreciate when companies like Systematic back their staff’s voluntary efforts,” says Finn Winkler, Head of the InterForce Secretariat.
The new policy came into effect on 1 September 2025 and applies to all employees in the company’s Danish operations.
