Esbjerg municipality brings social care and healthcare together in Cura

When two departments merge into one, it makes sense to bring their IT support together too. That is the thinking behind Esbjerg Municipality's decision to add Cura Social, uniting the new department, Fritid Sundhed Omsorg & Social (Recreation, Health, Care and Social Services), on a single Columna Cura platform.

Better oversight of residents who cross service boundaries

One of the concrete benefits Esbjerg Municipality is looking forward to is greater transparency and built-in coordination for residents who move between social care and healthcare services. With Cura Social in place, both incoming and outgoing correspondence can be automated in one place, and staff in Adult Social Services no longer need to work across two systems.

"The many dedicated modules, such as Cura Housing and Placement Management and Cura Aid can be used across both areas. Cura Dialogue can cover both services. And Cura BI will make it possible to demonstrate the value created in Adult Social Services and across the department as a whole," says Per K. Pedersen, IT Consultant at Esbjerg Municipality.

A strategic foundation

Bringing the two service areas together in Cura also creates a strong basis for more integrated working. The Cura platform supports the professional standards FSIII, VUM, and FFB, and provides a complete mobile platform for staff working in the field.

"At a tactical and strategic level, this gives us a driver and a direction for alignment: an integrated department with a joined-up FSIII/VUM/FFB solution and a complete mobile platform," says Per K. Pedersen.

A productive partnership

"The merger of the two departments gave us the opportunity to think more holistically about digital support. A unified, integrated system landscape gives the municipality better conditions for creating coherence across the organisation and ensuring a more consistent approach to both operations and development," says Arne Nikolajsen, Director of the new department. He continues:

“By bringing our solutions into a shared system, we are not only strengthening day-to-day operations and cross-departmental collaboration. We are also building a more solid foundation for the future of welfare and digital development in the municipality. There is real value in being able to build on an established and trusted partnership with a supplier who already knows our organisation and our needs.”

With the department's specialist systems consolidated in the Cura portfolio, Esbjerg Municipality can share and search information across service areas efficiently, with built-in access controls to ensure no information is shared inappropriately under GDPR. The expansion also means the municipality's own IT team in Health and Care can continue to support both areas going forward.
