SitaWare optimises interoperability for nations at CWIX 2024
Systematic joined a three-week NATO exercise in Poland to test the interoperability and multi-domain capabilities of the alliance members.
The Coalition Warrior Interoperability eXploration, eXperimentation, eXamination, eXercise 2024 (CWIX 2024) concluded in Bydgoszcz, following an execution that advanced the readiness and resilience of NATO and national Command and Control capabilities and information technology services.
“CWIX is an opportunity to demonstrate the commitment of NATO and its partners to enhance our ability to operate seamlessly together, across all domains,” said General Phillippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation.
Engineers and operators from NATO and various nations tested more than 350 capabilities that could allow them to achieve their goal of a Multi Domain Operation (MDO) enabled Alliance by 2030. The exercises and their tests also provided the opportunity for NATO and nations to ensure their systems are compliant with agreed-upon Federated Mission Networking standards.
Systematic provided our world-leading SitaWare Suite as the Battle Management System for this exercise – which was also most recently chosen as NATO’s new Land C2 capability in a competitive tender.

In the Land Focus Area, the Finnish Army Pori Brigade was testing a capability called the Armylion Command & Control System based on Systematic Sitaware, cooperating with United States, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, and Romania.
From a Systematic perspective, CWIX 2024 was very successful, with 13 countries using SitaWare.
“In terms of SitaWare, one of the key objectives was to demonstrate multi domain operations and interoperability,” said Peter Dan Hansen, Systematic’s Interoperability Domain Manager.
Interoperability is the basic building block for the C2 capabilities of multinational staff and is, therefore, of essential importance for national and alliance defence. CWIX provides the appropriate framework for testing and optimising these capabilities.
Lessons learned at CWIX 2024 will enable the continual refinement of interoperability standards, systems and procedures, which nations can leverage to validate their contributions to NATO missions and to utilise interoperability into future capabilities, conducting successful operations and saving lives.
