Systematic demonstrates AI-enabled decision support at NATO HQ
Systematic demonstrated AI-enabled decision support to Military Representatives, national delegations, ACO and International Staff at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, on 8 June 2026. The presentations focused on SitaWare’s AI platform SitaWare Insight and its Agentic AI capabilities for intelligence analysis and operational planning.
As the Alliance evaluates how AI can support intelligence analysis, operational planning and decision-making across all domains, one of the central questions is where that AI capability resides: In a separate platform requiring new integration and new dependencies, or within the C2 architecture NATO forces already use.
The SitaWare Suite, NATO's selected Land Command-and-Control capability, takes the second approach. Its AI capabilities run on the same data, the same security framework and the same interoperability standards the Alliance relies on today. Staff across intelligence, planning and current operations work in the environment they know, with AI built into their existing workflows rather than introduced as a parallel system.
For NATO, the question of where AI processes operational data is inseparable from the question of who operates and controls it. SitaWare is designed for sovereign deployment, on NATO’s own infrastructure, whether on-premise, in cloud environments or in containerised field deployments. Operational data remains under the Alliance’s authority.
Built for Multi-Domain Operations and coalition command
Modern operations demand the integration of effects across land, air, maritime, cyber and space, and the synchronisation of many nations under one operational picture. AI-enabled decision support is measured by its contribution to that task: fusing data across domains and Allied contributors, accelerating the NATO command cycle, and helping commanders maintain a coherent picture at the speed operations now require.
Among those invited was Vice Admiral Frank Trojahn, Denmark's Military Representative to NATO:
"In modern military operations, the rapid and effective processing of information is a real operational challenge. The ability to quickly translate data into actionable decision-making can be decisive for the outcome of an operation. What Systematic has developed shows that AI can now help in an unprecedented way - directly in the system our forces already are using. This is an important development for NATO’s operational capabilities," he said.
In a coalition context, this architecture enables cross-national information sharing at multiple classification levels in accordance with NATO Federated Mission Networking standards, without requiring any nation to cede control over its own data or AI capabilities to a single vendor or a single Allied nation's technology stack.
The SitaWare suite is in operational use across more than 50 nations worldwide and is NATO’s selected Land C2 software.
