Systematic enters into Norwegian partnership

Systematic strengthens its focus on municipal EHR systems in Norway, pairing with experienced consultancy firm that knows the Norwegian healthcare system inside and out.

Systematic has entered into a partnership with Norwegian consultancy firm Vali as part of the company’s aim to supply health record systems (EHR) to Norwegian municipalities. This partnership aims to ensure that Systematic’s electronic patient record system, Cura, is suitably adapted for conditions in Norway and supports work processes and integration requirements in the municipalities.

“Our role is to work closely with the municipalities in ensuring smooth and efficient implementation. We are familiar with the work processes within the municipalities, and we know how the system needs to be configured to integrate well with the day-to-day activities of healthcare staff in municipal health and care services,” says Jarle Boland, consultant at Vali.

Vali has been a specialist in the Norwegian health and care sector for 18 years, with experience from both sides – as an advisor to municipalities in procurement processes and with extensive experience from implementation of municipal EHR solutions.

“The municipalities must have confidence that our solution has been developed with, and for, the employees in municipal nursing and care services. With Vali, we want to strengthen our collaboration with the municipalities in this important undertaking of replacing record systems and the resulting changes to work processes. Together with Vali, we will be working closely with the municipalities on this,” says Brian Fisker, Vice President of Systematic.

“Systematic has done this before. The system they offer is a sound, documented solution that has been in operation for many years now and was jointly developed with the municipalities.”

Norwegian expertise meets tried-and-tested solution

Systematic currently provides its EHR solution, Columna Cura, to health and care services across almost half of Denmark’s municipalities, with more than 85,000 users. According to Jarle Boland, this provides an excellent basis from a Norwegian perspective.

“Systematic has done this before. The system they offer is a sound, documented solution that has been in operation for many years now and was jointly developed with the municipalities. This provides a different basis to solutions that are still being developed,” says Jarle.

He also points out that there are a number of similarities between the Danish and Norwegian healthcare services.

“Denmark has undergone a healthcare reform and reorganisation of municipal services, with a high degree of digitalisation. Norway is in the midst of a corresponding development, governed by the municipalities. We can absolutely learn from experiences in Denmark,” says Jarle.

Systematic set up a Norwegian office last year and has now taken on its first three Norwegian employees as part of its focus on Norway.

Facts about Cura:

Cura is Systematic’s digital EHR system for municipalities, used for documentation, coordination and decision support within municipal home care, at nursing homes and in social services. Cura helps healthcare workers, nurses and social workers to gain an overview of patient needs and services, and ensures appropriate nursing and care, always based on up-to-date data.

Cura is a secure, cloud-based solution that is based on open, international standards (HL7/FHIR, SNOMED CT).

Cura is scalable and is used in both Denmark’s largest municipality (Copenhagen) with 600,000+ residents and its smallest (Læsø) with just over 1,700. The system is intuitive to use and can typically be implemented in three to six months with minimal need for training.
